What's the best lense to use for really close up shots?  Right now I have a Macro AF zoom lense 28-100mm f/3.5-5.6 D. I have no idea what to look for when it comes to buying a new lense, this was the one I have always had and I never though I would want to get any closer than I already can; However, I really want to get into this type of photography when it comes to reptiles. Any info would help me alot!

This is pretty much as close as I can get with the one I have right now...but I want to get even closer! lmao

I have three awesome digital cameras.  I can take pictures of people and the colors always turn out great.

I am trying to take some of my geckos and they all seem to loose their color, I have one that I took of my gecko through the
glass tank and it looks pretty good.

Should I look more at the light in the room, colors of the background.

I have some awesome juvies that I would like to share the pictures with.

Any suggestions?

After experimenting with taking pictures of my gecko I found some of the best pictures have been taken with most/all of the lights off, andthe camera set to a low/soft flash.

Here are some I took with all the lights off except our red night viewing light, and using a low flash:

Here's what it looked like without the flash; just the red light was on:

Whenever I had tried to take pictures with all the lights on in my room, it was always too dark, and when I put the flash on it would washed all the color out aswell... Sad But Try with some the lights off and see what you get! Im still playing around with how to get the best pictures, but Im sure others here know more than I do when it comes to getting great geckoi pics.

I use a light box, with two lights set up on either side, it seems the best set up so far. >.>
