With Reptiles handling is always a hit or miss. At times you have those that don't mind in the least when it comes to holding or poking around them. Then there's others that won't let you near them. "Uhem like Taz, right Anthony?"
As far as from personal experience I have a chahoua that i've raised from a couple weeks of age that at times is an absolute doll.
She doesn't mind me holding her and is an absolute treat when it comes to showing her off. Especially when it comes to kids that want to see some of my collection. She's "usually" the easiest to handle. Reptiles have their moods from day to day just like us. There are times i can safely place her on my shoulder while cleaning cages and there are other days i can't keep her on my hand.
I know someone personally that decided to get (specifically a male) chahoua because he had heard that they are generally the calmest of all the rhacs... good luck holding that little devil down. While it is usually the case seen among the more experienced breeders/hobbyists it is not always the case.
If your thinking about getting one... then get one to enjoy, keep, raise and watch grow. Don't let only temperament and ease of handling decide whether or not you want one. Good luck!

P.S. i have yet to be bitten by any of mine. Even my friends little monster.
