Well, I'm fixing to take one of my 20 gallon tanks and turn it into an AWESOME vivarium. About 25% land, the rest water. I'll be keeping a few fire bellied newts, a betta, two or three dwarf african frogs, and some ghost shrimp in it. All life plants and everything. I'll hopefully be starting it with my boyfriend this weekend and I can't wait! It's going to be beautiful once finished. I'll post pics of it afterwards!

I actually heard that FBTs and FBNs (fire bellied toads and newts) absolutley cannot be placed together, I forget why. I think the toxins the toads secret, or vice versa. I have a couple of FBTs, they are funny little things.

That's odd, I have always seen them placed together?

I will certainly look forward to seeing it.  (and copying your ideas!)  i am planning to do a natural viv for my 3 fire bellied toads, want to add more toads, and (do they get along with dwarf frogs?  I'd LOVE to add them to the mix...)  are you going to have a waterfall?  i'd like to do one, but i don't like a hassle... as far as it being tough to clean, messy, etc...

Sounds like it should be awesome. Have you ever checked out Dendroboard.com? If you go the the members frogs and vivs sub-forum, you can find some really great inspiration there, and learn how to cleverly disguise man-made objects.
