Well, I definitely think there's enough interest to do something.  There's a lot more to it than just that, though.  We need to figure out where, when and of course...how much ($). :0)

I'm just trying to get through breeding season at the moment.  Gecko production has doubled again...only this time it happened in about 90 days.  Tongue

Definitely a good problem, but that still doesn't make it any easier to solve...we had no idea how to manage these kinds of numbers in a reasonable amount of time, so we've spent any extra time caring for a bunch of new babies the old, inefficient way...AND trying to devise a system to help us manage them more efficiently.  Calling it a crash course pretty much sums it up...things get complicated and little mistakes that used to cost $20 at home now cost $200.  lol

Anyways...yes, this is still something I'm interested in doing.  Now that I'm thinking about it, I might just have an idea of where, too. :-)

I'm not sure if this has come up yet (I only briefly skimmed through the posts here) but what do you guys know about hotels/motels and their policies on reptiles shacking up in your room over night? Anyone know of any pet-friendly hotels in the area off-hand?
I wonder if the only options are such pet-friendly hotels? While my geckos are definitely beloved pets, they don't come with the same concerns dogs and cats do...especially considering they are contained when it comes to messes, take up less space, and aren't usually the source of any odor issues. The only thing I'd imagine them being concerned about is the possibility of something escaping.

I'd try looking up hotels and such online, but I figure some of the people here are experienced in traveling with their critters--maybe you know of some hotels that aren't as strict as they appear to be?

That would be cool. I might be able to come if you ever had one. I'm only a few hours away in Indiana.

I'm definitely down for a KC get-together.  I wouldn't mind leaving my studies in Columbia for a couple days and staying in the 816.  Swapping geckos or RC cars I'm in!  Grin

Just an update - I'm definitely wanting to do this.

Here's a rough idea of what I'm thinking....it definitely needs some fine tuning, and I'm not exactly set on any of this.

I'd like to have it coincide with the KC Herp Society's spring show, or possibly one of the bi-monthly KC shows...hopefully in the same building.  This way, we may have better luck getting other breeders to come and bring animals.

We could have a get together and an informal "pre-sale" the day before the show and then everyone who's interested would be able to reserve a table at the show - our local shows have pretty good attendance and tables are usually cheap, so this should make it worthwhile for other breeders to come.

If planned enough in advance (meaning interested breeders paid for their tables early), I'm guessing we could talk the show coordinators into setting our tables up in one area of the show, so that it kinda feels like a crested gecko show within a reptile show.

PS - I can't remember who asked, but no hotel is going to say they're reptile friendly.  That said, I've never had a hotel say anything about animals being safely contained in my room (like when the maids come in, etc.).  As long as you keep them covered up in the lobby and don't let them get loose in the hotel, they have no reason to bother you.
