This sweetie just got dropped on me the other day....

This was her when she realized there was a Savannah right next door...  Wink I promptly blocked her view!

She's in pretty crappy shape.  I could tell the people meant well, but they obviously had no idea what they were doing.  She's supposed to be three years old.  They dumped her with an old 55 gallon critter tank (filled with crushed walnut), a 5.0 UVB striplight (with the plastic shield still intact, so she's never had UVB), and informed me she had eaten 20 crickets the night before.  Oddly enough, they left a brand new bottle of Repti-Vite, too.  Go -figure?  Huh

She's underweight, dehydrated, and has an upper respiratory infection.  I tried her at the store for a couple days, but no one has seen her eat, she hasn't defecated, and we couldn't keep her tank hot enough.....

...so she's now home with me.  She's pretty comfy at the moment.  She's been hanging out under her 150 watt infrared bulb since I shut off her 10.0 UVB lamp.  She'll lap water from my finger tips (isn't cottoning to the misting she SHOULD love).  Hopefully the high heat and UVB will dry her out and get her feeling better!  She'll eat... but only if I put the cricket IN her mouth.  She takes 'em down right away.  I just hope I get some poop out of her soon!  All the walnut she was on freaks me out!! Shocked

Oh man...good luck with her!!

I'd give her a good soak in warm water with some Pydialite (I really have no idea how to spell that...lol) and make sure it's the unflavored kind.

It's a good idea, but since she's (as of this morning) now drinking on her own, defecated last night, and took 6 dusted crickets of her own accord this morning, I don't think it will be necessary!

She's VERY friendly.... she had obviously been handled quite a bit (especially since the females tend to be much more skittish than the males).  She is just the typical lizard-aggressive that they tend to be.  She hasn't frilled up once since the original "I'm-gonna-eat-the-savannah!" moment.

Now it's just a matter of getting rid of her minor cold, and rounding out the flesh over her hip joints a bit.  Both should be possible... it'll just take some time!

Poor BABY!!!!  I'm glad you've gotten her over the hump, and hope her infection clears up.

I just love that "OMG!!!  What the HECK is that THING!!!" expression when she wanted to take on the savannah.

Just goes to show how feisty and resilient they can be-even when they're sick!

I'll KILL to have someone drop one off to me...but Timmy (my ninny beagle) would FREAK!!!!

My lovebird is finally getting friendly, flying to land on the laptop (and last night he bathed in my water glass.)  My silly "not interested in anything" BCx keeps barking at him and chasing him when he flies.  Guess I'm gonna have to Put Lucy in the BR when Dill gets some flying time.

Very cool!  If I had the space, I would get one.  I keep seeing them at the shows (and they aren't that expensive compared to cresties & beardies & the various snakes they have...).  I just can't cram another large cage in here... maybe when I get my own house I will.
