Hi! I don't really want to post my real name or photo online, but I'm Fuulie, and I'm seriously considering getting a crested gecko.
For this purpose I thought it would be a good idea rather than just websearching to talk to people who actually own some of these cute little guys and figure out if I could take proper care of one.
So.... hello. c:

Thanks!
I was up until like 3am yesterday looking at the pictures forum.
You may be right about that addiction thing.
Also, your little gimp gecko Pat is so adorable.
Does he stick to things as well as his buddies?

LOL-Pat climbs and does all the things other geckos do, he just has lots of vines in his rank he can "grab" with his stump, because he no longer has fingers with lamellae to stick to glass on that paw.
He doesn't know he's handicapped...he just does what he does.
I just make it easier for him.
If I see him trying to do something, and notice he's having a hard time, I try to find a way to make an accommodation to his tank so he can do it.

So are they personable? I have all aquatic pets right now and although they're very cute and interactive at times, it's not like I can even occasionally pet them or form a close bond with them. Because they'd die.
And I don't want that, haha.

Welcome to the forum! All geckos have their own personalities, but generally the cresteds are some of the easiest to handle. You'll notice a lot of threads on here about handling that are very helpful.

I think they have very sweet natures...some just take a little time to bring it out.
I've never met a crestie that is "pit-bull" mean...and no offence to pit-bulls by that comment. What I'm saying is that cresties don't have a bad reptutaion.
If you compare geckos to dogs, and cocker spaniels at a 0 on the aggression scale, and pits are a 10, cresties range in the 0 to 1 level, while most tokays or bibrons are 9 to 10. But even tokays can be hand-raised.
Now think of it this way.
You get a brand new geckos and stet it up in it's tank. Every time you walk past, you knock on the glass or try to grab the gecko to hold it.
That gecko is going to be SCARED TO DEATH.
A GIANT HAND smacking the side of it's house or grabbing for it will make the gecko hide and it will be flighty when you try to hold it.
Now check out this thread...there are lots of good tips about bonding with your new gecko.
http://www.pangeareptile.com/forums/showthread.php?t=29172
A lot depends on the age of the gecko you get. A hatchling tends to be flighty, but even an adult can be spastic if it was never handled much before you get it.
Some of them a sweet right from the egg...others are like farty old men and b!tchy old women!!
It all takes time and patience for you and your gecko to create a bond...but it's worth it!!

Notes! My weak point!!! O_O
Haha, thanks for the link! I'll be sure to check it out. I plan on giving him/her as much time to his/herself as possible when he/she is adjusting to the tank, then after a few days or maybe a week I'll spend more time hanging around near the cage, then kind of just gradually get closer until they're used to me.
But my keepers ended up vetoing getting me a gecko for my birthday late this month. -_- Since where I live doesn't allow them (phooey, I could get away with it if I wanted!
....I'm kidding though. :I ). So I have to wait a few more months until I move somewhere else. :< I guess it's more time to plan, though.

Waiting is not a bad thing. You'll be very wise when you can finally get one!
Just keep researching and looking at photos! Then you'll be able to pick one out that has the looks you want. Also there might be a lot more available since breeding season will be in full swing.

Thanks for the peptalk. I'll keep that in mind!
I'm thinking I want either a dark red one, or perhaps a flame... honestly it doesn't matter the color, as long as I can tell them apart from other geckos. They're all absolutely adorable.
I might try to get one at scratch-and-dent price, since I don't mind the lil guys having nipped tails or anything, as long as it's not harder to care for.

I assume you're talking about your parents (unless you're another species of animal, and are referring to your owners..
)...some of US are like that. We have to assure that we have a roof over our heads and our kids' heads...and sometimes that mean following rules even WE don't like.
Age can also be an issue. Maturity more so than chronological age...
For example, my 21 year old student/daughter wants a Solomon Island ground boa. At this point, we have over 30 geckos, 2 dogs and 8 cats.
I have to nag and threaten her to help with the animals we have, and refuse to allow another animal in the house until her attitude improves.
She can't afford to get her own place so she's here living with me, while I pay all the bills.
My house-my rules.
If you don't like it, you know where the door is.
At this point she can't even afford the feeders for the snake, and I'm pinching pennies till Lincoln screams like a little girl-just to feed us and the animals we already have.
BTW-Frog-butts are CUTE!!!
